Die 2. U-Flottille enstand im 01.01.1940 durch die zusammenlegung der [[2. U-Flottille SALTZWEDEL]] und der [[6. U-Flottille HUNDIUS]]. Nach der Besetzung von Frankreich, wurde die 2. U-Flottille nach Lorient verlegt. Sie wurde im September 1944 aufgelöst. Die im Spätsommer 1944 noch einsatzfähigen Boote verlegten bis August 1944 nach Norwegen. Der Flottillen-Chef in Lorient, [[Ernst Kals]] wurde nach der Verlegung der noch einsatzfähigen Boote Chef des U-Stützpunktes Lorient und des Sicherungsverbandes Lorient. U-Boote aber kamen von Lorient aus nicht mehr zum Einsatz.
