My name is Andreas Angerer, I was born in Magdeburg in 1965 and I have been dealing with the German submarines of World War II for over 30 years. Books over books have accumulated over the course of these many years. But unfortunately there was no book that contained all the information. So I was always looking for this or that. At some point many years ago, my old companion Markus Hofmann made this page available to me. Actually it should be a project in which several people should work together, but unfortunately it never got that far. I've been working on this page for almost 10 years now, and I'm still trying to bring all the aspects together from the books available to me. Yes - almost all information comes from books that others have written. That may be reprehensible, but I am on the road a lot for work, and it is also financially impossible for me to visit the archives to carry out research. So, like hundreds before me, I still use literature to feed these pages. This has probably been going on since good old Herodotus. But that doesn't mean that I don't respect the work of the authors of these books, on the contrary, I take my hat off to these people, whether it's Busch, Röll, Ritschel etc., thanks. You have made the topic accessible to a wide audience. But today we are in the computer age and everything and everyone has to be online today, and books are not cheap, specialist literature costs a few euros more. So I decided to create this free info page about submarines.

Data or photos that have been handed over to me by private individuals as a copy will never be sold, even to some extent they will be offered or sold anywhere. I am not a hump of any submarine utensils at E-Bay or anywhere else. I am a passionate submarine lover, everything is free here. Images that I publish from my archive (currently 3940 images of submarines and 1368 images of commanders) are only released for private use. It is not planned to show pictures on this page in public in the near future (but not excluded at some point).

So, you can argue about this topic very well. I find this system ok to protect the work of others. But when it comes to history, I'm not so convinced. The history of a country or people should be available to everyone free of charge. Because we're the people, that's the story of our ancestors, so we're part of that story. How can you teach children and adolescents the right story today when they hardly read any books, how should they know what happened, the suffering and the sacrifices made by the German submarine drivers. (this also applies to the entire people).

Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer living witnesses who have experienced the submarine war themselves, and in a few years' time only we will be over, the descendants of those people who fought on the world's oceans. Who will remember them? Who will tell their stories? Who will report the joy and misery of these people? This will probably only be a small number of people. Worth mentioning is the late Horst Bredow with his submarine archive, which has collected everything there is about submarines for decades, and whom I, despite some differences of opinion Disagreements, admire and adore. He did a great job there. The authors of submarine literature are also to be recognized without exception. But also the hobby submarinists like you and me. But my generation is no longer the youngest, who will still be there then?

Dear submarine lover, I know that getting good information is still difficult and expensive. I myself would like to have all US war diaries on microfilm. And I know everyone is sitting on their information. But people: everyone will pull together, we all want the same thing. We love submarines and their history. We want to remember, we want to uphold tradition, we want to convey history that was not defaced by the mainstream media. We want pure submarine history. So let's do this.

I tried to put everything on one page to end the eternal rum searches. Broader topics such as: Details of sunk ships, crew members, commanders, etc. are linked and can be reached by clicking on the words and terms highlighted in blue. The green are already linked, but do not yet contain any information. Unfortunately it seems to me that I am not really from Fleck.
