Nach dem 31.12.1939 wurden die bestehenden Flottillen zusammengelegt. Die 2. U-Flottille Saltzwedel, und die 6. U-Flottille Hundius wurden zur 2. U-Flottille vereinigt. Die U-Flottille Saltzwedel bekam die Feldpostnummer M - 25 522.
