|
| U 221 sichtete am 13.10.1942 um 00:50 Uhr den Geleitzug SC 104, tauchte um 01:26 Uhr auf und lief zum Angriff an. Um 05:56 Uhr, schoß Trojer einen Torpedo auf einen der Dampfer, der traf. Dieser Torpedo traf die Ashworth, das Schiff sank innerhalb von 20 Minuten. Es gab keine Überlebenden. Der Kapitän, 41 Besatzungsmitglieder und 7 Artilleristen kamen ums Leben.
