Die 6. U-Flottille Hundius wurde am 01.10.1938, als Ausbildungs- und später als Frontflottille, in Kiel aufgestellt. Nach dem 31.12.1939 wurden die bestehenden Flottillen zusammengelegt. Boote aus der 6. U-Flottille Hundius und der 2. U-Flottille Saltzwedel wurden zur 2. U-Flottille vereinigt. Die U-Flottille Hundius hatte die Feldpostnummer M - 42 831.
