Um 17:12 Uhr schoß Krieg einen Zweierfächer auf ein Schiff. Einer dieser Torpedos traf die EMPIRE DUNSTAN. Der Dampfer brach in zwei Teile und versank innerhalb von 20 Minuten. 2 Besatzungsmitglieder kamen ums Leben. Der Kapitän, 29 Besatzungsmitglieder, 7 Artilleristen und 3 Passagiere wurden vom norwegischen Dampfer LOM gerettet und in Taranto (Italien) an Land gesetzt.
